The mono project, which includes chairs, tables and stools. the mono project has been developed from my previous work, mono chair which is signifying how I've built the process of finding the essential nature of things. this work was created to pursue the ultimate foundation of a chair design through taking the form of the minimized structure and using fundamental materials. It was made of welded stainless steel or steel without using diminutive components including bolts and nuts, hence it appears like a single organized solid material.

As grid chair previously defined, Mono Chair is also signifying how I've built the process of finding the essential nature of things. This work was created to pursue the ultimate foundation of a chair design through taking the form of the minimized structure and using fundamental materials in comparison with grid chair to show the core part of a chair in the manner of dismantling the ornamented parts of it. It was made of welded stainless steel without using diminutive components including bolts and nuts, hence mono chair appears like a single organized solid material.

| 'mono chair' proto version: 2010 |
|
||
|---|---|---|---|
The grid chair represents one of my works that pursue the nature and functions of objects. Mono chair is coming up with an answer for finding the ultimate foundation of a chair design in the way that a production process is highly minimized. Mono chair seeks an extreme simplicity by a conventional way, welding which does not need any small components such as bolts or nuts. Mono chair proto version will be revealed at the '2010 Seoul Design Festival' for the first time. |

We recognize the shape of objects through our eyesight, whereas the eyesight comes from association functions in a brain. Accordingly, the image of chairs we have known is created by the association functions in a brain as well as the chair decorations may be considered as the outcome of the association functions though. In the view of functionalism, only a minimized structure is required to sit. Collection |

Let's play seesaw. I wanted to make a chair for recovery of human relationship. As two people sit on each side of the chair, it is working out as playing a seesaw. Think about how great it is! There are two people sitting on each side, they have actually not seen each other before. The two people realize that the chair can rock and they interestingly begin to move so that they may recognize each other and face each other with smile. |

Two modules can be combined into one so that people can sit in various ways. Maximum four people can sit on the chair at the same time. This chair has a possibility to be used for public spaces, office lobbies and so forth. |
